Hourly maid or a live-in maid?
Many families in Dubai compare an hourly cleaner with sponsoring a live-in maid. Here is how they differ.
| LUMINA hourly maid | Sponsored live-in maid | |
|---|---|---|
| Who employs the cleaner | LUMINA | You |
| Upfront costs | None | Sponsorship, medical and agency fees |
| What you pay | AED 50 for the first hour, then AED 30 an hour per cleaner, only for the hours you book | A monthly salary, plus a room, food and flights home |
| Contract | None. Pay per visit | A long contract |
| When you travel | Skip or move visits | You still pay the salary |
| Changing a visit | Skip, move or cancel free in My bookings up to 12 hours before | Agree it with your maid |
A live-in maid can make sense if you need childcare or help all day. For keeping a home clean, an hourly cleaner usually costs much less.
Weekly and fortnightly plans
Book the same day and time every week to save 20%, or every 2 weeks to save 15%. You pay for the first visit when you book, and each next visit is charged 48 hours before it starts.
